It’s 2011 and the Smurfs are chased into New York City (which is always the setting for naive characters, from Crocodile Dundee to Macaulay Culkin) by the hilariously “devious” Gargamel.

Their surrogate father is non other than Doogie Howser (Neil Patrick Harris) who is Vice President of Marketing of a large cosmetics company.

 

 

Needless to say, having a bunch of little blue troublemakers around is recipe for disaster, and the result was an advertising campaign that was a very profitable mistake.

It goes to show that sometimes a mistake can lead to a beautiful wedding cake (I couldn’t think of anything else that rhymes with “mistake.”)
