Starring Michael Keaton, The Founder is the true story of Ray Kroc, and how he converted one Burger Restaurant into, today, the second largest Fast Food company in the world, beginning his journey at the age of 52 no less.
What you'll see in the movie is how Ray Kroc was a mater salesman, and marketer.
However, he also had great instincts as to how to differentiate his company from other "burger joints", such as refusing to allow jukeboxes because they encourage teens who loiter.
Also, Ray was a real innovator. For example, he began using a powder milkshake blend to save money on flavoring.
After reading Ray Kroc's biography, I'd say this is one of the most accurate films I have ever seen in capturing a man's life.
What you entrepreneur's may appreciate about this movie is a few things, such as:
- How your company can grow, and expand, and yet, you may still be struggling to pay your mortgage! What you need is either a mentor, or a great accountant.
- What a pain in the neck business partners can be. Although they may comprehend your vision intellectually, they may not understand it viscerally, and as a result, you'll find them acting like a 1,000 anchor hanging from your ship.
- How you may wake up one day and realize you've been selecting the wrong types of people to run your organization. Sometimes motivated and successful are mutually exclusive qualities.
I enjoyed the movie a lot. I have always been a big fan of Kroc's, and so I found this a refreshing portrayal by Michael Keaton.
Enjoy the movie!
